Qualifications / EducationCert Ed-Fine art Special Ed 1975-78 Hull Institute of Education U.K. B.Ed Hons 1988-91 Thames Polytechnic Claremont School of Art 1999-2000 Born and educated in England I held a variety of teaching and lecturing posts covering various subjects including Art, specialising in ceramics. From 1990-1995 I lived and worked in Singapore where I had two exhibitions and completed numerous commissions for both corporate and private collections. Much of my work at this time centered around the use of collage. My technique involved building up images to create surface textures using a combination of hand made papers which I shaped, moulded, coloured, embossed, and combined with fabrics and metal to create angles light and shade. Corporate clients included: Saatchi & Saatchi, Space Partnership (interior designers) Art 2 (art consultants) Naesa Collection, Deutsche Bank From1995-1997 I lived and worked in South Africa where I continued to take on commission work mostly for SE Asian clients. During this time I also co-wrote a book published in 1998. Living in Perth for the past seven years my work has taken a new direction now using paint as my main media, though retaining my previous interest in collage. I am currently exploring the way in which colours and textures relate with each other to communicate moods and feelings. Using acrylics and mixed media on canvas my aim is to encapsulate moments that touch our soul with the aim that the viewer will be able to take away something of the deeper layers that connect us all.
