Gallows Gallery

Gallows Gallery presents the first major solo exhibition by landscape painter – PAUL WINZAR.

Winzar captures the mood of a moment in various locations -- Rottnest, the Margaret River region coastline, the Collie and Swan Rivers, the Swan Valley and Bangkok at night. An emerging talent, Winzar has refined a technique of layering loose brushstrokes that allows him to create realistic images with a freedom and texture which have become his signature style. He renders his carefully chosen compositions with a strong emphasis on light, which brings the paintings a sense of radiant vibrancy.

Winzar who is mainly self-taught, started painting in oils at the age of 17 (he is now 35). His earliest beginnings creatively were as a graffiti mural artist, and he was later tutored by Irish born artist Leo Pepard, and also studied at Claremont School of Art.

Paul Winzar's traditional style of realistic landscape images capture an essence of the land in W.A., and although he has exhibited since 1991 in various group exhibitions this is a highly anticipated first major solo exhibition by a talented young artist.
